We really are gluttons for punishment. It wasn't enough for us to uproot ourselves and live in a completely different culture far from kith and kin again, but Catherine and I had to go and switch roles! So now, Catherine struggles for the first time with the balance between the demands of work and family, while I struggle with the challenge of homemaking and the use of unstructured time. But the greatest adjustments by far had to be made by our two children who were enrolled in the local Japanese schools.
