| While we investigated
possible avenues of
Christian service overseas,
Catherine, who is a German
teacher, received a
scholarship from the
Goethe Institute for an
advanced course in German
language during the
summer of 1980. This
scholarship would pay for
all her living expenses plus
an additional stipend. It
sounded like a great way to
spend the summer before
leaving for overseas
ministry in the fall: I'd
backpack through Europe
while Catherine studies
and we would rendezvous
on the weekends at such
romantic places as
Salzburg. Then when the
summer was over we
would leave for Africa. It
was a great plan, but we
were to find that though
man proposes, God
disposes. |
